KLG Investments, Ltd. (trading as Aquapure Water) contracted with Aerex® Industries, Inc. to design and manufacture a 126,000 GPD SWRO system (“Systemâ€) expandable to 157,000 GPD. This new SWRO System is designed to desalinate seawater and will be followed by their existing (Aerex® supplied) 100,000 GPD BWRO system to provide water for Aquapure’s water bottling plant.
The skid mounted system is designed to operate at forty percent recovery with a feed water up to 36,000 ppm TDS and an SDI of three or less. Aerex® used FilmTec SW30-380 membrane elements, which operates at a feed pressure of under 900 psi while producing a permeate of approximately 600 ppm TDS.
The system frame was manufactured using Extren extruded fiberglass shapes with AL6XN super-austenitic stainless feed and concentrate piping. Protec PRO 8-1000-SP pressure vessels, a FEDCO feed pump and Signet instrumentation are just a few of the major components of the system. With the addition of a FEDCO energy recovery turbine, the system operates at a very energy efficient level.
Aerex’s® scope of services included system engineering and design, project management, equipment fabrication, controls, programming and installation supervision. All engineering support and construction for this project was provided by the Aerex® facility located in Fort Pierce, Fla.
